What the overlap checker shows
Ownsight looks inside each fund you hold, adds up what it owns, weighted by how much of the fund you have, and lists the companies that turn up in more than one of your holdings. That includes a share you hold directly that is also inside one of your funds.
For each company that appears more than once you see how many of your holdings it sits in, and its total share of your portfolio. Your exposure to a company is the sum of all the pieces.
- Which companies appear in more than one of your holdings
- How much of your portfolio each one makes up in total
- Which of your funds each one is reached through
- How much of your money we could see at company level, so you know what the figures cover
How to use it
Type in each holding, searching by name, ticker or ISIN, or upload a CSV, PDF or screenshot from your platform. You review every match before the analysis runs. You do not need an account, and Ownsight never connects to your broker or bank.
What the result does not tell you
Overlap describes what you own. It does not say whether the overlap is a problem, and it is not a recommendation to change anything. Some people hold overlapping funds on purpose, and what suits one person may not suit another.
Ownsight is in private preview. Fund holdings come from a demo dataset of each fund's largest holdings, so company-level totals cover the part we have data for, and the results say how much that is.
Questions
- Is the overlap checker free?
- Yes. You can run a portfolio check without an account and without paying.
- Does it work for ETFs and funds held in an ISA or a pension?
- Overlap is about what the funds hold, not the account they sit in. Add the funds from every account together to see the combined picture.
- Does Ownsight tell me what to do about overlap?
- No. It describes what you hold and never says what you personally should do. For personal advice, speak to an FCA-authorised adviser.
