Research
Understand the method—not just the result.
Every model in Ownsight comes with how it works, the period it was tested on, how sure we can be, and where it falls short. Tests are written down before the results, and published either way.
Research-based model baskets
Five published ways of building a diversified mix at five risk levels.
Published model tests
Rules fixed in advance, then run on data the models hadn't seen.
Historical comparisons
Results shown with the period they cover, next to simple benchmarks.
Uncertainty and limitations
Likely ranges and known weak spots beside each result.
How we test a model
- Risk of a bad day
- Volatility-scaled history is the model shown. Plain five-year history failed our test on 6 of 7 portfolios, so we don't rely on it.
- Model baskets
- Rebuilt every four weeks using only data available at the time, 2015 to 2026.
- Machine-learning portfolio model
- Did no better than a simple 50/50 blend in testing, so it isn't used.
Past results are no guide to the future. Tests use one historical path and don't include tax.

Questions
What does Ownsight do?
It looks inside the funds and shares you hold and shows the companies, sectors, regions, overlap, costs and past ups and downs behind them, in plain English.
Do I need an account?
No. You can run a portfolio check without one. You only need an account to save your holdings and come back to them, or to use the member tools such as model baskets.
How do I add my holdings?
Type them in, searching by name, ticker or ISIN, or upload the CSV your platform exports. You review every match before the analysis. Ownsight never connects to your broker or bank.
What does fund look-through mean?
A fund is a basket of companies. Look-through adds up what each of your funds holds, weighted by how much you own, so you see your total exposure to each company, sector and region. In this preview, fund holdings come from a demo dataset of each fund's largest holdings, so totals cover the part we have data for, and we say so.
How should I read the model comparisons?
They show how example mixes behaved in the past using published methods, with the period, method, a likely range and the limitations. They are not predictions, and none of them is the right mix for any particular person.
Is this investment advice?
No. Ownsight provides information only and is not authorised by the FCA. It describes what you hold and how it has behaved; it never says what you personally should do. For personal advice, speak to an FCA-authorised financial adviser.
What happens to my data?
Holdings you type in stay in your browser session unless you choose to save them to an account. Accounts store your username and a scrambled (hashed) password, or the email you sign in with. Risk questionnaire answers are never stored. You can delete your data at any time from the Delete my data page.
